According to weather forecasts by the Spanish Metereological Agency (AEMET), snow, rain and wind as well as low temperatures have put 34 provinces on alert.
The islands of El Hierro, Gran Canaria, La Gomera, Tenerife and La Palma are on red alert for wind which is expected to reach 150 km/h. Fuerteventura and Lanzarote are on orange alert also due to winds.
The provinces of Cadiz, Malaga and Ceuta are on orange alert for heavy rainfall. While Almeria is on yellow alert for expected rainfall.
Snow and Low Temperatures
In Lugo, Orense, Pontevedra, Cuenca, Guadalajara, Toledo, Alicante, Caceres, Madrid, Jaen and Murcia are on yellow alert for snow. Teruel, Zaragoza, Cantabria, Asturias, La Rioja and Castilla y León are also on yellow alert for snow and minimum temperatures.
The snow level will be between 400 and 700 meters in the northern peninsula, between 700 and 1,200 meters in the center and on the Balearic Islands and in the south above 1,500 meters.
