The five-star Los Monteros hotel will reopen again with the first guests arriving Friday 13th August. The luxury hotel has been closed for over a year after the Russian owner, Ernst Malyshev closed its doors in June 2009 after 5 months of disputes with employees.
The Mercantile Judge number 2 of Malaga authorized the recent sale, which was tagged at 25 million euros. The new owners have already prepared everything for the reopening and reinstated around 60 of the former 90 employees.
The emblematic hotel opened its doors in 1962, with only 28 rooms and surrounded by sand dunes and eucaliptus trees. Today the hotel has over 33,000 square meters and 172 rooms, most of them suites and junior suites.
The reopening of one of the most emblematic five-star hotels together with the visit of Michele Obama to Hotel Vila Padierna has brough new optimism to the Costa del Sol after a very tough year for the five-star hotels.
