Saturday evening the Costa del Sol was witness to the Starlite Charity Gala at the Hotel Villa Padierna in the southern Spanish town of Benahavis, near Marbella.
Michelle Obama, who was spending a holiday at the Villa Padierna was due to attend the event after receiving a personal invitation from Eva Longoria, who supported the presidential campaign of Barack Obama. Expectations were high among the atendees, but all hopes were in vain, as the US First Lady took her daughter and a group of friends to a private dinner at the La Meridiana restaurant.
Celebrities, Aristocrats, Politicians and Wannabes
The long list of attendees to the Starlite Gala included a range of celebrities, aristocrats as well as politicians including Gräfin Gunilla von Bismarck, Luis Alfonso de Borbon, Duke of Anjoy, who claims to the French throne, Boris Becker and wife Lilly Kerssenberg, author Deepak Chopra, Lamia Khashoggi, Manolo Santana, Model Adriana Karembeu, Alexandra Swarovski, Olivia Valere, Angeles Muñoz, Alan Solomont, Ambassador of the United State to Spain as well as a long list of Sheiks and Princes from Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the Middle East.
The event was a private event by invitation only, and tickets cost 1,000 euros per head. The Starlite Gala is a unique Annual International Charity Gala bringing together the worlds of business, celebrity and philanthropy to raise money to improve the quality of the lives of communities, families and children in need.
