A stampede at the Love Parade, a German Music Festival, left 19 dead and 350 injured over the weekend. Among the dead are two Spanish students.
The two students from Tarragona and Cambrils, both aged 22, were amongst the 19 deadly victims of the human stampede that occurred at the Love Parade music festival in Duisburg, Germany.
The two students were on an Erasmus exchange program at the University of Münster, north-west Germany.
The families of the victims travelled to Germany on Sunday to identify the bodies and start administrative proceedings to repatriate the bodies back to Spain.
The investigation of the tragedy is now focused, according to the prosecutors office in Duisburg, on whether it could be a case of negligent homicide.
Angela Merkel, the German Chancellor has called for “a very intense test to see what happened.” Meanwhile, criticism continues to grow towards the most popular music festival in Europe which saw over 1 million attendees.
