Puerto Banus MarbellaThe National Police are investigating a robbery report in the Marbella home of the Qatari Sheikh Abdullah Bin Nasser Al-Thani, the new owner of Malaga FC.

The alleged robbery occured Monday night, only five days after the Sheikh arrived in Puerto Banus, Marbella. Stolen itmes included six computers, eight cell phones and a Hublot luxury gold watch encrusted with diamonds as well as a Louis Vuitton bag.

According to the complaint filed Tuesday at the police station in Marbella, the author or authors of the assault entered the house without forcing anything and without causing internal damage.

Al-Thani who recently purchased Malaga FC aims to turn the club into one of the giants of Spanish football. The Sheikh also met on Sunday with the mayor of Marbella, Angeles Muñoz, and announced “a major investment for a project related to the tourism industry and services” in the town of Malaga. Rumours speculate talks may be related to the purchase of Marbella’s sports harbour.

Abdullah Bin Nasser Al-Thani, 43 years old, is a member of the royal family of Qatar and operates a business conglomerate with over 3,000 employees and activities spread over thirty countries. He has investments in hotel chains and shopping malls, mobile phone companies, travel agencies, fashion shops and electronics businesses as well as car dealers.
