Spain’s King Juan Carlos is now well and doctors have said that he will be able to recover fully and be as physically fit as he was before undergoing surgery. He had undergone an operation last month to remove a dead lump from his lung. He had been recovering at Clinica Planas in Barcelona from where he was discharged on Friday evening.
The doctors have asked the monarch to quit smoking, and it is reported that he is determined to do so. He has already started working again, and had a meeting with Spanish President Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero at Zarzuela Palace this Friday regarding the economic slowdown and the steps taken to overcome it.
The doctor who performed the surgery, Dr Laureano Molins, has advised the monarch to undergo regular physiotherapy and have check-ups at constant intervals.
