Barcelona defeated Valladolid 3-0 in an away game on Saturday and stretched their lead at the top of the La Liga to 8 points.
Xavi opened the scoring for Barcelona in the 21st minute, latching on to an excellent center from Dani Alves and netting the ball with a superb volley. Two minutes later, Dani Alves was on the scoresheet as his cross aimed at Zlatan Ibrahamovic lobbed over Valladolid keeper Justo Villar to give Barcelona a 2-0 lead.
In the second half, Barcelona went 3-0 up in the 55th minute as FIFA Player of the Year Lionel Messi combined with Zlatan Ibrahamovic to score and end any hopes of a Valladolid comeback.
Barcelona now have amassed 49 points having played 19 games, followed by Real Madrid on 41 who take on Malaga at home today.
This is only the fifth occasion in the history of the La Liga when a team has managed to reach the half way stage without losing a single match and Barcelona have looked in supreme touch having conceded just 10 goals and showing no signs of losing a match.
