Spain will take on top seeds Australia in the Hopman cup on Thursday for a place in the final to be held in Perth on Saturday. Spain, seeded fourth in the tournament, has won both of its ties prior to this convincingly, by whitewashing both Romania and the US 3-0.

Spain is being represented at the tournament by Tommy Robredo, ranked 16 in the men’s rankings, and Maria Jose  Martinez Sanchez, who is at number 16 in the women’s rankings. Both of them have been in sublime form and have not lost even a single match in the competition up to now.

Robredo will take on Hewitt and Martinez Sanchez will face Samantha Stosur in the singles matches. For a place in the final, the Australians need to win the tie 3-0 without dropping a set, whereas the Spaniards just need to make sure that they are on the right side of the line if there is a tie between two or more teams and a count back is needed to be enforced.
