For the second successive year, the Spanish football team has been ranked number 1 in the year-end football world rankings. The Spanish are the current European Champions and they held on to their number 1 position in the world which they had acquired last month from Brazil, in the rankings which were published on Wednesday..

Brazil, currently the South American Champions, occupy the second position ahead of the Dutch in third and World Champions Italy in fourth place. There were no changes in the top 10 of the rankings. The African countries are led by Cameroon at number 11 and CONCACAF region leaders USA are 14th. Asian confederation leaders Australia are at the 21st position. Algeria, meanwhile, reached to its best ever position of 26, since the introduction of the rankings.

Spain has had an excellent record in the last two years which has seen them to the top of the rankings for two consecutive years. They are also one of the hot favorites to win next year’s World Cup in South Africa.
