This weekend saw Barcelona play host to the last of six international meetings aimed at preparing for talks on climate change in Copenhagen which begin on 6 November.

The Barcelona meeting saw 180 countries’ send over 4000 participants to what is considered an essential get together to thrash out proposals that can be used as the basis for new worldwide regulations on climate change avoidance.

This was the last opportunity to set out what the talks in Copenhagen should look at, and where its focus should be. The result of the talks will be a replacement for the 1997 Kyoto protocol.

Ironically Barcelona has been criticized for failing to reach required EU standards on greenhouse gas emissions.
