Nissan’s existing plant located at Zona Franca in Barcelona has been selected as a candidate for manufacturing the upcoming electric truck.
The new van will be an electric variant of Nissans NV200 van, production is expected to begin within weeks, and certainly before the end of the year.
The Barcelona government together with the Renault-Nissan allicance, have signed an agreement to develop a model of zero emissions in the city.
During this act, the General Director of Nissan Iberia, S.A., Manuel de la Guardia responded to the question of a journalist that the agreement did not entail any industrial aspect, and that Nissan’s Barcelona factory was a candidate, as were other Nissan factories.
The new model is part of Nissan’s bid to produce electric cars as a sustainable alternative to its petrol and diesel versions.
