Twenty people travelling on a bus full of Dutch schoolchildren have been injured, and one girl has died, when the bus turned over, while travelling on a road to the North West of Barcelona.

The schoolchildren were all aged around 15, and were on a trip with teachers from a Dutch school, around 40 children escaped with minor or no injuries. The bus had just crossed the French/Spanish border and was heading south towards Barcelona.

The children were taken to hospitals in Figueras and Girona, according to Dutch officials, some of the injuries sustained are considered serious, one of the seriously injured is the bus driver, who tested negative for alcohol in his bloodstream.

So far there is no apparent reason for the incident, other than the bus left the road and turned over, in the outskirts of the town of Bascara.
