Spain and the US called yesterday for new negotiations between the Palestinian authorities and the Israeli government, in order to try to broker some kind of plausible, peaceful solution to the never-ending Middle Eastern troubles.

In a joint statement from the White House Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, the Spanish Prime Minister, and Barack Obama, US President, said that they believed that now was the perfect time for a new round of talks aimed at finding away of allowing the two sides to live in peace together.

Spain’s input is considered important as they move into becoming president’s of the European Union for the first six months of next year. The Prime Minister went on to say that he believed that an end to the entrenched, but relatively small scale violence, between the two states, was essential to solving many problems, not only locally, but throughout the Middle East, and even across the rest of the world.
