Spain’s most wanted man, Ronald Priestley, was caught in Malaga on charges that he may have been connected with counterfeiting offences that total up to £4.25m.
He becomes the 25th person on the most wanted list to be found under the Operation Captura, which targeted at catching those who on in the run in Spain in an attempt to get out of UK criminal charges.
In Malaga, Priestley was detained due on a European Arrest Warrant and could be deported to the UK in ten days or less, to face charges.
The British Embassy justice and home affairs attaché in Madrid, Robbie Bulloch, stated that this is a reminder to all criminals that fraud is treated as a serious offence by officials. He also said, that the new Captura campaign is effective at placing more stress on those who thought running to Spain was the answer for their criminal responsibilities.
