Catalonia has now decided that if skier’s or mountain climbers find themselves in trouble due to their own negligence, they will have to pay the price for their foolishness.

In a new bill, it has been decided that all rescue efforts are the responsibility of any negligent person, who incurs the bills that will cost $48 per hour, per rescue personnel, $3,600 per hour of helicopter use, and $62 per rescue vehicle.

Ola Lanau, the fire department director, stated that the new measures and fines are not to raise money for the area, but instead to discourage people from taking unneeded risks, and ending up in the need of rescue, thus reducing the amount of yearly accidents.
