The government has said that it believes that the so called swine flu threat is not over and is making preparations for a possible stronger re-emergence as the winter months approach. To this end they have announced that they are to set about a system of stock piling the necessary drugs to protect the Spanish population.
The minister for health Trinidad Jimenez has announced that they will ensure that the health services will have sufficient stocks of vaccines to assist 60% of the population if needed against A/H1N1 flu.
The original plan called for enough drugs to cover some 40% of the Spanish population that has now been reconsidered and revised to an additional 20%. They do not believe that they need 100% coverage as for the most part only the very young, very old, and already ill will need to be assisted with vaccines.
