Some of Spain’s more deprived unemployed people are to receive special payments after their unemployment benefits have come to an end.
This new special measure will affect somewhere near 350,000 people and will see them possibly receive around 425 euros per month with this emergency benefit.
This new lifeline was announced by Maria Teresa Fernandez de la Vega the Deputy Prime Minister who said that the special payments will stay in place as long as Spain’s rate of unemployment remained above 17%.
At the moment the rate of unemployment is just below 18% but is predicted to increase rather than decline over the next few months as summer temporary positions disappear.
Most will still not benefit from the new move as nearly three quarters of a million unemployed in Spain will not be eligible for the special payments.
