For most women in their 60s, having children is something of the past. For a 64-year-old woman in Spain this was not the case, she underwent IVF treatment and had twins.

The woman only known by her initials MIA, recently gave birth to twins in Spain.

The woman gave birth to a boy and a girl via C-section in the Hospital Recoletas Burgos in northern Spain.

The woman had undergone IVF treatment in the United States.

This is the second time that the woman gave birth at an advanced age. In 2011, the woman, aged 58 gave birth to her first child, a daughter.

“The intervention was a success thanks to the coordinated work of a multidisciplinary team of the hospital,” read a statement from the Hospital.

The Hospital in Burgos also released footage of the Cesarean performed:

MIA, is said to be the oldest mother in Spain. The previous oldest mother was 67 years old, she died of cancer in 2009 at the age of 69.

The world’s oldest mother is a woman from India, Daljinder Kaur, who gave birth at the age of 70.
