Spain TouristsThe airport chaos as a result of the volcanic eruption in Iceland has resulted not only in huge losses for airlines but also for tourism destinations such as Spain.

Spain’s tourism industry will lose 450 million euros in a week as a result of the delayed and cancelled flights to Spain according to a calculation made by the federation of Spanish Hotels and Tourism Accommodation (CEHAT).

Airlines, trains, buses, hotels, travel agencies, bars, restaurants, theme parks, sports complexes, etc. All of them are suffering major losses due to the lack of tourists arriving in Spain.

Despite an opening of the airline traffic again, these losses could continue to grow as many tourists are cancelling their reservations for end of April and beginning of May.

75 per cent of tourists arrive in Spain via airplane and 70 per cent stay in hotels or tourist apartments.
