Madrid’s annual Cibeles fashion starts off with a too thin to model controversy over three models 
who have been rejected from the fashion show for being “too thin”.
The models taking part in the fashion show are checked against a body mass index (BMI) – the ratio of height to weight. Any model with a BMI of less than 18 is not allowed to participate.
The Cibeles fashion show first enforced the BMI rule in 2006. The three girls who were banned from participating this year had a BMI of 17.4 and 17.3, two girls from Spain and one from Belgium.
Cibeles fashion show will show about 50 Spanish designers that will be showing their autumn-winter collection.
