June 2010 shall see the opening of Torrevieja’s first satellite Town Hall in La Mata. As part of the “Plan E” scheme to help the recovery of the construction industry, La Mata’s Town Hall will cost 3.3 million euros and is located in the Plaza de Gaspar Perello in the centre of Town, beside local wine making land-mark, Bodegas Simon.

The New Town Hall shall offer a number of valuable services to local residents and visitors including a local police station, meeting rooms plus advice and information services. Twenty-six new employees shall also be hired to handle the daily running of the centre.

The Town Hall’s construction is only taking six-months and improvements to the local area’s infrastructure is also taking place including the reformation of the Plaza and new pedestrian areas.

La Mata is the first of at least three new Satellite Town Halls that are part of a longer term plan by local government to form closer ties with different parts of the city and offer a better and faster service for information, planning and security.
