According to reports published in the newspaper 20minutos.es, young lovers in Bilbao (Basque Country) are following the protagonist in an Italian novel Ho voglia di te – I want you by Federico Moccia, and sealing their love as they write their names on padlock, chaining it on a post on the El Arenal Bridge and throwing the key into the river.

In the novel, the protagonist and his girlfriend wrap a lock and chain around a lamp post on the bridge, then lock it and throw away the key into the river Tiber as a symbol of everlasting love.

People have been doing this all over Italy, and it is now Bilbao’s turn to experience this wonderful idea. The padlock and the key are considered to be symbols of ’love and marriage’. This practice is done by lovers as they believe that they will stay together forever.
