Last year’s champions Barcelona will not be able to participate any further in the King’s Cup this year. They were knocked out of the competition on Wednesday when the second leg of their clash at Seville ended at 1-0.

Although Barca managed to win the away leg, but the tie finished 2-2 on aggregate and Seville went through to the next round on the basis of having scored two away goals in the first leg. Seville had beaten Barcelona 2-1 away from home, and the away goals they had scored took them through to the next round.

Barcelona attacked the Seville goal throughout the match, but the Catalans were only able to get a single goal through Xavi in the 64th minute, as Seville captain and goalkeeper Andres Palop had a fabulous game under the bars.

This loss means that Barcelona will not be able to replicate their last year’s feat of six titles and Pep Guardiola’s boys will be no longer part of the King’s Cup this year.
