Benidorm experienced the worst occupancy rate for twenty years in 2009 says Hosbec – the association of hospitality businesses in Benidorm and Costa Blanca.

Benidorm sees Worst Hotel Occupancy rate in 20 YearsWith an overall average occupancy rate of 74.5 per cent, Benidorm has seen its historic records evaporate.

The hotel occupancy in Benidorm reached 92 per cent in 1999. Over the past five years the occupancy rate dropped from 80.2 per cent in 2005, to 79.6 per cent in 2006, 81.7 per cent in 2007, 77.8 per cent in 2008 and 74.5 per cent in 2009.

The majority of tourists which visit Benidorm are from Britain at 43 per cent or from Spain at 51.8 per cent with the remainder coming from Belgium and Holland at 4 and 3.2 per cent respectively.
