As many as 46 provinces in Spain are on alert as temperatures are expected to fall almost 11 degrees below zero in some areas. Many low lying areas may also experience snowfall.

Weather SpainThere has been heavy snowfall in the Cádiz, Córdoba and Jaén regions and these regions have been put on yellow alert. The islands of El Hierro, Fuerteventura, La Gomera, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, Tenerife and La Palma have also been warned of heavy rainfall.

Aragón, Zaragoza, Teruel and Huesca are also amongst the regions which are on yellow alert. Castilla-La Mancha may also see snowfall, whereas temperatures in Albacete and Guadalajara may fall to -11 degrees and -10 degrees respectively.

Many schools in Spain have stayed closed due to the weather and people have also faced troubles while going out for work. The AENA has said that flights may also be delayed at Madrid’s Barajas airport. Traffic could be affected in many provinces and there is a possibility of jams on trunk roads due to the inclement weather.
