Spanish Foreign Minister Miguel Angel Moratinos was honored in the Serbian capital Belgrade on Saturday for being a great friend and his contribution towards the promotion of the city when he was named an honorary citizen of Belgrade.

Moratinos said that recent times have seen the best relations between Spain and Serbia there have ever been during his conversation with Serbian President Boris Tadić and Finance Minister Vuk Jeremić. He also added that Serbia could look up to Spain for help on its path to becoming a member of the European Union.

Spain will get the EU presidency next month onwards and the FM has assured Serbia that it would do the best it possibly can to help the Serbs and provide support to the country in becoming a member of the EU.
