Five people were killed and six injured as a bridge being constructed in Andorra succumbed on Saturday morning. The workers at the construction site were trapped underneath the debris as the structure gave in. Reports say that nearly 100 meters of the structure collapsed as workers were pouring fresh concrete over it.

35 workers were present at the construction site at the western end of the Dos Valiras tunnel close to Massana when the incident happened. It is believed that most of the 11 workers who were injured or killed in the tragic incident hail from Portugal.

The bodies of four workers who were killed had been found by Saturday evening and a fifth worker was rescued alive but in a critical condition and suffering from hypothermia. He was admitted to a hospital but could not survive. Work to recover the bodies of victims was still being carried out on Sunday.
