Spanish formula one driver Fernando Alonso made an unofficial visit to Ferrari’s factory at Maranello and went for a spin in a 458 Italia on Friday. As the driver is still fulfilling outstanding responsibilities to Renault, the team he represented last season, the visit could not be termed official. This means he has to wait before the official presentation by Ferrari.

Alonso, the 28 year old driver from Spain and two time world champion, also had a conversation with the technicians of the Ferrari team. He also met Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo for about half an hour.

Alonso has moved over to Ferrari for the 2010 season after a disappointing season last year with Renault as he finished in 9th place in the drivers’ standings with 26 points while Renault finished 8th in the team standings. Both his championship wins in the 2005 and 2006 seasons came while he was Renault.
