Sixteen Spanish provinces were on weather alert as strong winds continued to blow over most of the country. It is reported that Galicia was the area which was hit most badly as trees and cables succumbed to the wind pressure. Considerable losses have also been reported in Mallorca and Melilla.

Winds up to 80 km/hour are forecast for Navarra, Teruel, Huesca, La Rioja, Zaragoza, Tarragona and Mallorca whereas slightly weaker winds up to 70 km/hour are forecast for Malaga, Valencia, Almería, Granada and Melilla.

The Cantabrian fishing fleet has not left port since almost a week and is not expected to do so until next Monday.
