Tamiflu is now available at pharmacies across Spain, but only with a prescription. The drug is known to be effective against the H1N1 flu virus, more commonly known as the swine flu virus.

Spanish medical authorities stated that the manufacturer, Roche, would no longer be restricted to selling the drug only directly to the government, and as from Monday, will be able to sell it through liceneced agencies, but only with a doctor’s prescription.

The drug was removed from pharmacy shelves six months ago in an effort to avoid “panic” miss-use of the flu treatment.

The government now feels that the concern of the public has subsided, and regular sales can resume.
