Barcelona may be inclined to hand Eric Abidal a contract extension according to a report by a sports magazine.

There have been several talks between the team and Abidal over the last few months, over what it would take for the team to keep him for another year, and it seems that both sides may have finally reached agreeable terms.

Originally, Abidal was on a four year deal, which was due to expire in 2011, but in order to ease the tax implications on Abidal since he is a foreign athlete, his contract was negotiated at the end of the fourth year instead of the fifth. According to the new deal he will be signed with the team until 2012.
