Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero is confident that Spain will be able to take the 2010 World Cup next year in Spain, stating that his country is the champion of European football, and that they are looking towards winning their next conquest, which is to become the champions of the world.

Zapatero spoke at the Spanish Football Federation centenary, and added that thanks and gratitude is owed to the citizens of Spain.

Apart from the Prime Minister, the event also drew attendees such as Gabriel Jorge Sosa, one of the oldest former players, and the young Bojan Krkic of Real Madrid, one of the youngest footballers to attend the centenary.
