ITV Studios has announced a new production centre, with a managing director already hired to run it in Madrid, and two pilots commissioned and on their way.

The manager of the sixth production centre from the British institution ITV, is Fran Garcia, who has helped the company with other operations in Stockholm, Los Angeles, Sydney, the UK, and Cologne.

The Madrid centre will be focused on creating formats that are new for the Spanish market, as well as adapting formats that already exist for the new market.

The new pilots for the centre were commissioned by Telecinco, the largest commercial broadcaster in Spain, but the names of the pilots have not yet been released by the company.

Word of the co-production with Telecinco and ITV was first announced in the spring of 2009 with the goal of producing 300 different instalments of the game show Pasapalabra. The move paid off, as the game show was able to bank three million viewers during the month of April.
