Spain, sixth global arms exporter in 2008

Spain has situated itself as the sixth global exporter of arms, behind the United States, Russia, Germany, France and the United Kingdom according to the latest figures from the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI).

The recipient countries of these arms exports include Colombia, which received a 31 million euros shipment of “airplanes”, Sri Lanka which received 4 million euros worth of “bombs, torpedoes, missiles and rockets” as well as Israel, which received weapons for the value of 2.3 million euros.
