A Transavia airline pilot named Julio Alberto Poch was detained at the Valencia airport and arrested on suspicion that he may have played a role in the ‘Dirty’ Argentina war that lasted from 1976 through 1983.
Poch was about to depart to fly to Amsterdam when he was picked up for suspicion that he was part of the effort to dump political opponents of the military regime from planes into the sea thus disposing of them.
Spanish police contacted Interpol and then took Poch into custody before he was able to leave to pilot the flight to Holland, which was only scheduled to fly in forty minutes.
If found guilty he faces prosecution since the Argentina Supreme Court threw out amnesty laws for those who abused human rights in 2005.
