Malaga has had several years of near disastrous water problems, but this year is lookingEmbalse de Guadalhorce , Málaga. Although city authorities do caution that levels have dropped significantly in just the last seven days as consumption increases and the sun gets stronger.

Last year the water levels were at just 23% of full capacity compared to over 47% this year. All together the 7 reservoirs in the area hold around 300 cubic hectometres; the largest body of water has the lowest level, La Viñuela, at only 32%.
