A vicious fire erupted Wednesday, in the Sierra Cabrera between Ture and Mojacar, located in the southern province of Almeria.

The fire destroyed over 4,000 hectares of forrest and natural habitat. Out of precaution approximately 500 people were evacuated from their homes according to local authorities.

The cause of the fire is believed to be from lightning on Tuesday.

One local resident, David Jackson reported on his blog on Thursday, (www.david.jackson.info) that life was beginning to ‘return to normal’ and the ‘clean up’ was being anticipated.
