Fire in Mercabarna Barcelona

According to Spanish media, a huge fire has erupted in Mercabarna, located in Barcelona’s Zona Franca. A huge cloud of smoke has covered the sky, which can be seen from practically any part of the city.

The fire allegedly originated in cooling rooms which contain meat, no information has been revealed as to any injuries. A variety of fire brigades are working at the scene to extinguish the fire.

Update: The fire did not originate in Mercabarna, as was originally suspected, but instead in a refrigerated warehous of the company Collbatallé. All staff was evacuated and the fire is under control. A total of 12 fire brigades attended the scene to fight the fire.
