After months of discussion and intensive study the Government of Lanzarote is nearly ready to present a legislative project to the Canarian Government for the legalisation of 27 hotels on the island.

This includes many of the most recent constructions in the resort of Playa Blanca that do not at present fall within the island’s town planning (PIOT) remit. And which were subsequently declared illegal by the CSJC – the Canarian High Court. Many of the hotels were illegally rubber stamped by the former mayor of Yaiza, José Francisco Reyes, who is currently on trial for his role in the affair.
