Spanish car sales fell 48.8 percent in Ferbruary in relation to year earlier figures according to the Spanish car manufacturer’s association ANFAC report on Monday.

Automobile trade association ANFAC said 62,107 vehicles were sold last month compared to 121,415 in February 2008. Sales for the year dropped by 28 percent in 2008, the worst slump on record. Car sales have dropped despite a 4 billion euro ($5.04 billion) government aid package for the collapsing car industry.
