Spain’s defense minister announces that the country will contribute a frigate with a crew of 200 to EU anti-piracy patrols off Somalia.

 In late September a Spanish tuna trawler escaped a hijacking attempt off Somalia. A Spanish fishing boat in the same area was held for six days by pirates in April last year.
