AP reports on new laws passed by the Partido Popular to reduce all sorts of “bad” behaviour and violations. “Its city council passed 74 measures that mandate fines of up to 750 euros (960 dollars) for a range of violations, including the sale and consumption of alcohol on its five beaches.”. A similar set of laws were introduced in Barcelona earlier this year, although the government had been clamping down on certain behaviour for years now.

The results in Barcelona are crystal clear: less tourists, dozens of hostals shut down, and over 500 bars and restaurants closed due to violations of laws (from terrace infractions, to music and noise levels exceeding legal limits).

One really has to wonder, who are these people making the laws in Spain?
